I’ve bitched and whined many times here about B’s poor sleeping habits, so it’s only right, now that we maybe (???) have turned a corner, that I come here to share the good news. For the past few nights, B has only woken up once. Yes, just once per night! To what do I attribute this success? Mostly things like rabbit feet, not stepping on sidewalk cracks, and wishing every time all the numbers on the clock are the same. There were a few other pivotal factors as well.
1. He naps only a couple times a week. I’ve long poopooed the whole “sleep begets sleep” fad as it’s never seemed to work for B, but consider me now firmly in the “tiredness begets sleep” camp.
2. He got older. Recently he’s been waking up 1-3 times a night regularly. This is the best stretch of his life by far.
3. We partially night-weaned. He’s only allowed to nurse once per night now and despite my resistance to doing it, I am willing to admit that this is what has pushed him over the edge to sleeping so well. The process isn’t/wasn’t a cake-walk but it also hasn’t been nearly as horrible as I envisioned, I think because he was almost there on his own. As to why I flipped my position on this and how we actually went about it, I will save those things for another post because it will be long.
Just wanted to share the joy! Also, he is actually napping today so I’m sure it will all come crashing down tonight.
